Americas Continental Selection 2024 For Pastry World Cup & Bocuse d'Or

The Pastry World Cup and the Bocuse d’Or will be held for the first time in the USA in 2024. The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will host the two continental selections of the most prestigious international culinary and pastry competitions June 11-13, 2024, showcasing the best pastry chefs and cooks from all over the Americas.

Both competitions are in Hall D of the Convention Center. Spectators will see the chefs prepping and cooking. Seating is available. There will be no tastings of the dishes for spectators. Spectators may come and go as they please; re-entry is permitted.

About The Events:

What is the Pastry World Cup? 

On Tuesday, June 11, up to eight countries from North and South America will take part in the Americas selection of the Pastry World Cup. The three teams on the podium will qualify for the Grand Finale which will take place during Sirha Lyon® in January 2025. A new feature of this cycle will be an emblematic dessert of the country hosting the continental selections.   • Argentina
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Mexico
  • Paraguay 

Each team, made up of one chocolate and one sugar candidate, will have 5 hours and 30 minutes to create 16 tasting desserts, two artistic pieces, and a buffet: 

  • Three frozen desserts with Capfruit fruit purees (+1 dummy)
  • Three pastry pieces: cheesecake revisited (+1 dummy)
  • Eight restaurant style desserts incorporating a hot chocolate soufflé Valrhona
  • One sugar artistic piece
  • One chocolate artistic piece
  • One buffet including the artistic sugar and chocolate pieces, the dummy frozen dessert, and the dummy pastry piece. 

How can I attend the Pastry World Cup? 

The Americas Selection of the Pastry World Cup is open to the public from 10 a.m to 7 p.m. on June 11 (partners may enter beginning at 9 a.m.). The competition begins at 10 a.m. You must register as a visitor for this event and purchase a ticket here. Tickets are $75 and includes access to all three days of events. What is Bocuse d’Or Americas? 

On Wednesday, June 12 and Thursday, June 13, the Bocuse d’Or Americas will take over the stage. The Bocuse d'Or Americas will be open to the public as of 9.00 a.m. Throughout the morning, you will have the opportunity to discover in detail the work of the chefs in the kitchen. The tastings will begin at 2:25 p.m. for the opening team. See the participating candidates for the Bocuse d’Or Americas 2024 below:

The teams will have 5 hours and 30 minutes to complete the Bocuse d’Or’s two iconic tests: the theme on a plate and the platter theme. The theme on a plate will have a spotlight on seafood products, reflecting the culture of Louisiana. The latter will highlight, as for each continental selection, the host region’s local and emblematic products. For the platter, the candidates will have to prepare wild boar rack and alligator sausage & grits served as a dish to share. 

How can I attend Bocuse d’Or Americas? 

The Americas Selection of the Bocuse d’Or Americas is open to the public from 9 a.m to 7 p.m. on June 12 and 13 (partners may enter beginning at 8 a.m.). The competition begins at 9:30 a.m. on both days. To attend Bocuse d'Or, you must register as a visitor and purchase a ticket here. Tickets are $75 and includes access to all three days of events. Find further information on the Bocuse d'Or here.

At the end of these two days of competition, the jury will qualify the five best teams for the Grand Finale of the Bocuse d’Or, also scheduled in January 2025 in France, during the next Sirha Lyon®.

Is there an official hotel for Bocuse d’Or? 

Several hotels are offering room blocks with special rates for Bocuse d’Or and The Pastry World Cup, including The Windsor Court, Loews New Orleans Hotel, Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, Hilton New Orleans Riverside, and Courtyard New Orleans Warehouse Arts District.
