Louisiana Catch and Cook

We know there’s nothing more satisfying than enjoying a meal after a long day – especially when that long day was spent catching fresh, delicious fish or hunting alligators in the waterways of southeast Louisiana. We also know that, after a long day on the water, the idea of preparing and cooking your catch might feel like more trouble than it’s worth. So, why not get the best of both worlds – with the added bonus of enjoying a meal prepared by one of New Orleans’s world-class chefs?

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries (LADWF) allows you to do just that! Their Catch and Cook program allows local restaurants (after filing for a permit) to prepare and cook fresh fish and alligators caught by licensed hunters and fishers that same day! This program combines two of Louisiana’s world-class attractions – sporting and cuisine – and is sure to create life-long memories for you and your group. As of December 2021, six restaurants in New Orleans are participants: Bourbon House, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, GW Fins, Palace Café, Tableau, and Ye Olde College Inn (Note: restaurants must be contacted well in advance of your planned date).
